GCW Meeting November 28, 2012

Gold Country Christmas Faire

•Fair was poorly attended; not much advertising had been done

•Any photos that were taken of GCW booth should be sent to Chery or Mary Ellen to be put on our website

•It was agreed that the booth was too cluttered and books were not presented well.

•It was agreed that GCW needs to develop a format and detailed plan for future fairs and other opportunities to market our books.

•Chery worked on the website to make it look more appealing

•Regarding the “Contact Us” section, emails from there will go to Chery and Mary Ellen for a prompt response

•Penni will be asked to make all author page links consistent on the website so that there is a hyperlink to the author’s own website. Some authors do not have a link and some links are not active.

•In January members will discuss the structure, goals, and activities for 2013. We may form committees to address different tasks.

GCW Luncheon December 12th

•A menu from Depoe Bay was handed around and those in attendance signed up and paid for their chosen item.

•Topic is “Cleaning Up Your Manuscript”
•Meeting will be held in the Placer Arts Building
Auburn Library Authors’ Fair, May 18, 2013

•Two authors per genre will be selected by the Library to have a booth

•Thirty-five authors will be present

•Chery has been providing this information to GCW

Members’ Updates and Announcements

•Robin completed her 50,000 words for NaMoWriMo. She’s a winner!

•Susan Korn had an article about her in the Georgetown Gazette

•Louise had been interviewed on ACT and has gotten a good response.

•Alton has just released his newest book on the Flags of the 50 States

•Alton mentioned that he uses a printer in Utah to print his books.

•Therese is having a website designed.

•Marsha reported that she intends to assist clients in creating a Living Legacy photo/text  book

•Mary Lou read aloud several of her poems
