Shelley Buck participates in “Meet & Greet”

I went to Laurel Book Store on #SmallBusinessSaturday, a time when writers traditionally show support for independent bookstores. And the support was decidedly mutual. It was a beautiful setting for a Meet and Greet to talk about our books. The bookstore began in Oakland’s Laurel neighborhood, but has moved to a downtown spot on Broadway. It’s in a vintage flatiron-style building with entrances on both sides and handy access to the 12th Street BART station. The people who turned out to meet us there were book lovers, and some of them were also writers, themselves, so discussion was lively and caring. Afterwards, the owner did video interviews with us about our work. I felt incredibly nourished as a writer and was once more reminded of the synergy between writers and the indie bookstores like this one that go to bat for us. What a day! – Shelley
