DROP-IN CRITIQUE — Wednesday, October 14, 2026, 10 AM to NOON
Drop-in Critique: Attendees read from their work* and receive feedback
from other attendees
*Gold Country Writers invites everyone to be our guest at the October 14th Drop-In Critique Session to experience having readers provide feedback to writers in a positive and constructive environment. We will explain the etiquette of critique, then work in small groups around a table, taking turns to read our work aloud (if desired), and give/receive feedback. Any writers who wish to receive feedback on their work should bring six copies of up to five pages of their work — formatted with double-spaced lines, Times New Roman font size 12, standard one-inch margins, and with line numbers if possible. Brunch and Discussion at Awful Annie’s Restaurant

Special Event: On the fifth Wednesday in September, Gold Country Writers will meet at Awful Annie’s Restaurant in Auburn to enjoy a tasty brunch and discuss the impressive books we’re reading currently or have read recently. Authors can also share a book they have published. This is in lieu of the Book Sale, which has been cancelled. Please RSVP to Lisa Schliff: onthebeamlisa@gmail.com, or simply let her know when you see her if you can attend. We will assemble in Awful Annie’s back room. Members are welcome to bring a book that they’d like to talk about, but it’s not required. This is also an opportunity to bring a guest. This is a no-host event.

Lisa Frenkel Riddiough is the author of a middle grade novel — Elvis and the World As It Stands (Amulet 2021); and several picture books — Letters to Live By: An Alphabet Book with Intention (Running Press Kids 2022), Pie-Rats! (Viking 2024), Embarrassed Ferret (Disney 2025), and Furious Turtle (Disney 2026).
