I was born under the sign of Trouble Ahead, with Eddie Haskell rising, and Itchy Feet in alignment with a short attention span.

I was one of those kids; curious, defiant and too smart for my britches. Long after in bed and should have been sleeping, I was under the covers with a flashlight reading Boy’s Life magazine, the official rag of the Boy Scouts. I became a Scout at twelve years old and fell in love with the outdoor experience.

Library was my favorite class in early grade school. Our teacher read to us such classics as: Swiss Family Robinson, Treasure Island, Robinson Crusoe, Five on a Treasure Island, and The Mad Scientist Club.

Soon I was reading PT-109, Sea Wolf, Call of the Wild, and Last of the Mohicans.

In my teens and early twenties, I followed authors Hermann Hesse, Kurt Vonnegut, Saul Bellow and Tom Robbins. I wanted to create places, characters and their stories too. Now, I love writing about damaged people, their choices and the consequences.

The Dream Messiah series (Freedom, Into the Fire, and Awaken) is by no means autobiographical, but many of the scenes are based on adventures and experiences I’ve had building cabins, fishing commercially, and avoiding bears during sixteen years in Alaska.

The genesis for this saga came while hiking across the Superstition Mountains of Arizona. I took a break from the one hundred and ten-degree heat and lay in the shade of a cactus, daydreaming and watching the clouds hang in the sky. I had recently seen the four-part video series from PBS Nature entitled The Ring of Fire. The stories by the Blair brothers of their quest to find the Punan Dyaks of Kalimantan (Borneo) blew me away. In my head, I saw the story of a young man in Alaska getting taken into the Dreamtime of another culture and finding his home. It’s taken many years to chisel away and expose the story, hone the details, and polish it into something presentable.

My new work-in-progress is a domestic suspense novel: four high school friends, each with their own psychological damage, pursue their goals. One of them is a true psychopath.

Additional Info

At present, I am a semi-retired echocardiographer, transitioning into working author and audio engineer. I have my own home studio for recording, editing and audio repair.

I am a cancer survivor and have had (and continue having) an amazing life. Travel, be it international or domestic, has always been a part of my lifestyle.
