Jojo Cook (They/Them, She/Her) is a native of Auburn and a recent graduate of California State University, Monterey Bay’s Social Action Writing Program. In their time away from the Foothills, Jojo served as President and Chief Editor of CSUMB’s student-led “In the Ords” Literary Arts Journal, with works of poetry appearing in several editions. They also obtained certification as an Interpretive Guide through the National Association for Interpretation, incorporating their skills as a storyteller with their deep passion for nature and conservation. They put the principles of P.O.E.T.R.Y. to use while serving as a Volunteer Guide at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, becoming a peer mentor and recipient of the coveted Graduated Guide red jacket.
Jojo’s current project of interest is adapting their short-form senior capstone project into their first full length work of fiction, following the journey of a disillusioned hermit crab faced with the ecological fallouts of the day. Outside of writing, Jojo is an avid archer, a burgeoning Dungeon Master, a carnivorous plant enthusiast, and an extensive collector of vinyl records, fish tattoos, and pirate paraphernalia.
