Azin Sametipour

Azin Sametipour was born in Tehran in the wake of the Iranian Revolution and immigrated to the United States at the age of eighteen. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Cambridge College before turning to her lifelong passion for writing.

Deeply interested in the lives of women and the shifting intersections of memory, history, and society, she draws inspiration from the complexities of human relationships and cultural change. Her debut novel, Tehran Moonlight, set in contemporary Iran, received a starred review from Publishers Weekly and was named “Best in the House” by Authors in the House @ GrubStreet/Muse 2015 Boston.

She lives in Northern California with her family.
