Barbara Young writes non-fiction, creative memoir, children’s picture books, short stories and poetry. Drawing from her conscious life-style and vocations as a nurse, holistic educator, and minister of metaphysical science, she writes to inspire well-being, creativity and empowerment for adults and children. Her award-winning published works include: The Heart that Rocks Health Care;” “Grandma Lost Cuddles;” “Mother’s Pearls: An Enduring Gift;” and the short story, “On the Porch with Miss Lizzy.” Her poem, “Remedy for Blues” was featured as “Poem of the Month” in the August 30, 2024, issue of Mountain Democrat newspaper. She’s been a speaker at events and meetings for local writers’ organizations including as a member of author panels at Manteca’s Great Valley Bookfest for several years. She was also a guest on Auburn’s ACTV presenting “Manifesting Your Book”, and their guest on “Staging the Third Act” hosted by Jeaninne Kato. Young has served as an officer of Gold Country Writers in Auburn for five years, currently in her second term as the vice-president of internal affairs.
