Writing, Mary’s third career, began at the age of sixty-nine. Her first career, marriage and mothering five children began at age 19. The second career, teaching students of all ages, began at age 42.

“Writing reminds me of mothering and teaching. Each child arrives with a life of their own. We spend days and nights together. I learn to lovingly follow and lead from behind. My memoir is taking a long time to write. I know it will be worth the journey.”

Mary enjoys traveling to visit her grandchildren. She lives in Northern California with Carl and their two cats, Munch and Misty.
