The writing bug bit Lisa Schliff at a young age when she received a diary for her birthday. She filled it with poetry. Since then, she has been writing poems and short stories. Her greatest undertaking came when she retired and published a novel in October of 2022, Fire in the Springs. She has also been published in a collection of essays, Nevada County’s Blues.
Lisa majored in Spanish at UCSB and English/ESL at San Francisco State, recognizing her attraction to languages and linguistics. She taught college and adult-level ESL in the Bay Area for 25 years and substitutes occasionally in Grass Valley.
Lisa is the newsletter editor for Gold Country Writers. She attends a monthly Writers Resource group sponsored by Nevada County. For a number of years, she hosted a writing group through meetup.com, Shut Up and Write. She maintains a close connection with some of the writers that she met through that group and writes with them.
She continues to work on a sequel to her first novel and a collection of short stories.
